21. Black and White
Delft locals Jan Klumperman (1919; Black) and Eugen Gaiser (1919; White) get to know each other during a cycling holiday in Ede. With Klumperman on guitar and Gaiser playing bass, they form Black and White, the popular singing duo. From 1954 until 1966 several of their cheerful Dutch songs become hits, among them ‘Zeep en Soda’ (Soap and soda), ‘Sh-boom’ and ‘Vivace’. Until 1987 Eugen Gaiser had his record store Discover, on Vrouwjuttenland 6.
